A day spent finding the good beaches, not the busy ones.
Lombok has more good beaches than any guest has days, and the famous ones are rarely the best ones on the day you happen to visit. This is a beach day with a driver who knows which coast the wind is on: pink sand in the south-east, long empty bays in the south, calm clear islands in the south-west. Snorkelling, surfing and the rest are added where they make sense, rather than booked blind in advance.

Which beaches
Pink Beach in the south-east for the colour and the quiet, Tanjung Aan and Selong Belanak in the south for long sand and gentle water, the small islands off Sekotong in the south-west for snorkelling, Senggigi in the west for a sunset at the end. Which of them fit into one day depends on where you are staying, and we will say so plainly rather than promise all of them.
Snorkelling
Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak and Gili Kedis are the calm option: small, close together, shallow and clear, which suits families and anyone who has never worn a mask. The three better-known Gilis in the north-west are busier, with turtles as the draw. We will tell you which fits your group rather than selling the famous name.
Surfing
The south coast works with one wind direction and the west coast with another, so the right beach changes through the year. For a first lesson we pick a forgiving sandy break and a quiet hour, not the busiest peak, with an instructor who teaches beginners for a living.
Fitting it into a trip
Most guests add a beach day to a plan that already exists rather than travelling out for one thing alone. Tell us which day is free and we will build the coast around it.
Beaches differ a lot in how crowded and how relaxed they are, and that is exactly what this day is for. If you would rather swim somewhere quieter, or want the women in your group to have the water to themselves for an hour, say so — it is a matter of picking the right beach and the right hour, and we know both. Modest swimwear is entirely normal here, and lunch is at a halal warung unless you ask for something else.
